Xiaomi says Q2 2017 was its best quarter ever with 23.16 million phones shipped

Xiaomi's management was right to not worry about falling smartphone sales last year. The Chinese company just announced that Q2 2017 is the best quarter ever.

According to Xiaomi, it managed to ship 23.16 million smartphones in the last quarter which is an increase of 70 percent compared to Q1 2017. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun attributed the sales increase to the company's focus on offline retail. It currently has 123 Mi Home stores in China with 14 more stores opening soon. Xiaomi is also boosting its online presence by partnering with online platforms such as JD.com, Tmall and Suning.

Its global business is another major growth driver; revenue from India jumped 328 percent year-on-year. With its first Mi Home outlet launched in the country earlier this year, Xiaomi has plans to launch over 100 outlets across the country within the next two years. For the rest of 2017, Lei Jun aims to achieve revenue of 100 billion yuan (approx. RM63.2 billion) and a shipment target of 100 million for 2018.
