vivo Malaysia launches the selfie-centric V5

If you're looking for a smartphone that has a better front-facing camera than the main one around the back, then vivo Malaysia has something for you - the vivo V5.

From L-R: Mike Xu, CEO, vivo Malaysia with the band ambassador of vivo, Dato' Siti Nurhaliza.

So what kind of front-facing camera are we looking at? A 20MP one, supported by some sophisticated software behind the scenes. Said software is called the 'Face Beauty Mode 6.0' which will work with the 20MP camera so that you will always have your most presentable look captured. This leaves the back with a 13MP main camera for you to take photos without you as the main subject.

The front camera looks as unimposing as always, despite its credentials.

Here's the main 13MP camera.

Specs that the vivo V5 pack include a MediaTek MT6750 1.5 GHz octa-core 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, along with the ability to expand that by 128GB via microSD. Other things that you get with the vivo V5 include the Funtouch OS 2.6 - which is based on Android 6.0, a fingerprint sensor that unlocks the device in 0.2 seconds, and Smart Split 2.0 for those who like to multitask. For its display, the V5 comes with a 5.5-inch HD display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass.

The vivo V5 can be pre-ordered now with a price tag of RM1,299. It is available in two colors - Crown Gold and Rose Gold. Oddly enough, vivo tells us to look out for the arrival of the V5Plus, which supposedly features 20MP cameras at the front and the back. The only other thing that we've been told is that it will be coming in December. We'll let you know when we hear more on this.
