Sony PS3's decade-long life comes to an end

By this time, the Sony PlayStation 3 is already an old console. After 10 years in the market (since 2006) and giving us plenty of good games to play, Sony has finally decided to put the PS3 to rest.

According to Gematsu, the announcement on the Sony’s official Japanese PlayStation site states that shipments have now ‘ended’, which can only mean that production has also stopped. Compared to the Xbox 360 of the same console generation which stopped production a year ago, the PS3 has had a considerably longer life. Then again, Sony did promise to support the console for 10 years.

The Sony PS3 ends its generation with three iterations and over 80 million units sold.
