Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Draws to a Close

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – At long last, the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY challenge draws to a close with the Grand Finals held at Sungei Wang Plaza last weekend.

From L-R: 3rd place winner Goh Yong Seng, 2nd place winner Phong Khai Loong and champion Lim Meng Kit with their mock checks on stage. Also with them is Sony Ericsson Malaysia Logistics Manager Aida Abu Bakar and the Android mascot.

After 12 qualifying rounds throughout Peninsular Malaysia from July 15 to August 5, the best of the best gathered in KL to compete for the grand prize of RM 100,000. After duking it out in Gameloft's Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, 23-year-old Lim Meng Kit was crowned champion.

However, none of the top three champions were registered owners of an Xperia PLAY, thus the prize money was reduced by 95 percent as stated in the terms and conditions.

Still walking away with a cool RM5,000, Lim stated, “Overall I am very happy to have won first place and will definitely be giving a treat to my friends. Of course, I intend to put some of the cash into my savings as well.”

Second place winner Phong Khai Loong from Ipoh took home RM 500 and commented, “This gaming tournament has been interesting and challenging and I am pleased to have won second place. I plan on saving the prize money but I also want to treat my family to a nice dinner.”

Last but not least is another 16 year old student, Goh Yong Seng from Melaka, who clocked in third and was rewarded with RM 250.
