Samsung launches new GALAXY series with the GALAXY J1

Samsung is infamous for churning out countless devices in hopes that some of them will catch on. The Korean tech giant recently announced that it’s going to stop doing that “quantity over quality” thing in the face of dipping sales figures, but now it’s going back on its word with the GALAXY J1.

Rumors of it were swirling around earlier in the month when some images were going about, looking like a solid Moto G competitor. Now, it has officially launched the low-end device, with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a 4.3-inch 480 x 800 display, dual SIM support, 512MB of RAM, 4GBs worth of storage, a microSD slot, a removable 1,850mAh battery, a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera. It also comes with Android 4.4 out of the box.

As of writing, the phone has only appeared on Samsung's Malaysia website though, and its announcement wasn't heralded by any worldwide press releases. It would seem like we are one of the few who are getting it ahead of everyone else, and we say few because there is the option to download the Indonesian user manual, which might mean the Indonesia may also already have it, or will be getting it soon.
