Many shoppers as well as tech aficionados have been using Samsung Pay more and more since its February debut. To keep the service fresh and to give back to customers for their support, Samsung Malaysia Electronics is introducing Samsung Rewards, the first of its kind rewards program for the Samsung Pay mobile payment platform.

KM Liew, Head of IT and Mobile Business, Samsung Malaysia Electronics says that Samsung Pay will help customers make their physical wallets thinner while Samsung Rewards will keep their digital wallets full. Samsung Rewards is similar to a credit card rewards program that is based on points. Customers earn rewards points with every purchase made through Samsung Pay. On top of that, every credit card purchase made via Samsung Pay will allow users to earn points, miles or cashback from their card's issuer plus Samsung Rewards points too.

There are three loyalty tiers for Samsung Rewards which are Bronze, Silver and Gold which comes with point multipliers that lets users earn double or quadruple points. However, this depends on how frequent the service is used each month. Users may move one level up across the tiers upon hitting a target number of transactions. With each level up in Samsung Rewards, users also receive more points per transaction too.

Samsung Rewards also enables users to score more points through limited-time bonus offers where Samsung Rewards partners up with small businesses as well as retailers to provide seasonal opportunities for more point earnings. In order to receive the points, one would have to activate and update Samsung Pay to the latest version on their device. This is a limited time offer, where 450 welcome points will be credited into the user's account.

Juice Works, GSC, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Dominos, dal.komm Coffee as well as Lazada make up the local merchants that are participating in the Samsung Rewards program, so users can expect incredible deals. Users also stand to redeem a Wireless Charger Stand, Battery Pack and the Gear S3 Frontier from Samsung, with sufficient points. Samsung Pay supports VISA and MasterCard credit cards issued by Maybank, RHB, Standard Chartered, CIMB and Citibank as well as an increasing number of loyalty cards.
