If you’ve experienced typing on a mechanical keyboard before, there’s a very good possibility that you would never want to go back to using a regular membrane keyboard ever again. But the thing is, mechanical keyboards aren’t exactly affordable, while its membrane counterparts are nowhere close to being as gratifying to type on.

Instead of compromising one attribute for the other, why not have the best of both worlds with Razer’s new keyboard, the Ornata, which comes with ‘Mecha-Membrane’ switches that’s said to deliver “both a soft, cushioned touch and a crisp, tactile click with each keystroke.”

The Ornata is available in two variants: One with Chroma backlighting, and the other with a more subdued monochrome green backlighting. Of course, it goes without saying that the former would be priced higher than the latter – but not by that considerable a margin, surprisingly. But regardless, both variants will come with a detachable magnetic wrist rest, fully-programmable keys with on-the-fly macro recording, anti-ghosting capabilities, a variety of different lighting effects (including 'Starlight', 'Ripple', 'Breathe', 'Reactive', and 'Wave'), as well as a 10-key rollover.

Both the Razer Ornata Chroma and Razer Ornata are available for pre-order on Razer’s online store for RM469.90 and RM379.90, respectively. They will begin shipping later this month, starting September 23, 2016.
