Pebble's existing smartwatches have squarish watch faces, but it is willing to break the mould to stay relevant in the booming smartwatch industry. It just announced its first circular smartwatch, the Pebble Time Round.

According to Pebble, the round face measures 38.5mm wide and offers two band sizes of 20mm or 14mm. The company also claims that the Time Round is the thinnest (7.5mm) and lightest (28g) smartwatch in the world. In comparison, the Apple Watch Sport comes in 38mm and 42mm sizes for the watch face, measures 10.5mm thick and weighs 72g (38mm) / 81g (42mm).

The thinness of the design comes with a sacrifice; unlike its previous smartwatches which can last over a weekend on a single charge, Pebble states that the Time Round has a battery life of up to 2 days. To make it more convenient for users, Pebble incorporated Quick Charging for the Time Round where a 15-minute charge can deliver a day of usage.

Other specs include an always-on color e-paper display with LED backlight and 2.5D Gorilla Glass, IPX7 rating for splash resistant, built-in microphone for voice reply, and a marine-grade stainless steel, chassis and bezel. Here's a breakdown of the available watch finishes and band options:

  • Watch finishes - black, silver, rose gold (14mm only)
  • Band options for 14mm: stone leather, white leather, flame red leather
  • Band options for 20mm: nero black leather, nublock brown leather

Available from US$249.99 (~RM1,096), the Pebble Time Round is now available for reservation at, Best Buy, Target, and Amazon. It is slated for shipping and availability in the US and Canadian retailers from early November.
