Overclock your non-K Intel CPU with Biostar's Z170 HyperOC motherboards

Just weeks after ASRock announced its Sky OC technology, another Taiwanese hardware manufacturer, Biostar, and their four new Intel Skylake Z170 motherboards, have followed suit.

Regardless of whether it’s a Core i7, i5, or a humble Pentium processor, the BIOSTAR GAMING Z170X, GAMING Z170T, GAMING Z170W, and HI-FI Z170Z5 are all able to overclock non-K processors to their maximum potential, despite them having locked multipliers.

Using a 3.3GHz Intel Pentium G4400 processor as an example, BIOSTAR was able to push its core clock speed up to 4.48GHz, which translates to an increase of 36 percent. They managed to do the same to a 3.2GHz Intel Core i3-6100T processor, which ran at 4.3GHz (an increase of 35 percent) thanks to their HyperOC technology.

The four aforementioned Z170 motherboards will have their HyperOC functionality enabled through a simple BIOS update.
