Nintendo to make smartphone games, partners with DeNA

Nintendo, one of Japan's most prolific gaming companies, is finally ready to introduce its iconic characters and elements into the burgeoning mobile game market by partnering with DeNA. Technically, Nintendo was the pioneer of mobile gaming with its Game Boy, DS and 3DS handheld consoles, but this time it will arrive in the form of mobile apps.

From this strategic partnership, both companies are planning to create and operate new game apps based on Nintendo’s IP. This will not only boost Nintendo’s reputation amongst smartphone users, but also strengthen DeNA's mobile gaming business on a global level. DeNA will also assist Nintendo in creating a cross-platform service that runs across smart devices, PCs and Nintendo’s game consoles.
