Motorola Officially Launches the Moto G in Malaysia

Looking for an affordable smartphone under the RM1,000 mark? Well then, we’ve got good news for you, as Motorola recently launched the Moto G.

Marcus Frost, Senior Marketing Director of Motorola Mobility.

Opening up the floor was Marcus Frost, Senior Marketing Director of Motorola Mobility. The phone, introduced to Malaysia by Motorola and Brightstar Distribution, is an answer to the price-conscious consumer who are on a budget and just don’t want to spend RM2,000 or more on a high-end smartphone. Motorola believed that everyone deserved to have mobile Internet access and that price should not be an issue for anyone looking to buy a smartphone.

Some of the specs of the Moto G are as listed below:

  • 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • Dual SIM (UMTS / HSPA+ up to 21Mbps)
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 5MP Rear Camera with 720p video capture
  • 1.3MP Front-facing Camera with 720p video capture
  • 8GB Internal Memory (16GB version available)

You may have noticed that we’ve only listed down the internal memory capacity for the Moto G and not the expandable storage. Well, unfortunately, the Moto G does not come with any form of expandable storage on it. The good news, however, is that owners of the Moto G will be given an extra 50GB of Google Drive storage free of charge for two years, on top of the standard 15GB already provided for Google Drive users (In total, that’s 65GB).

Owners of the Moto G will be given a Motorola Shell cover and a screen protector upon purchase.

The pricing for the 8GB version of the Moto G is RM698, while the 16GB version is priced at RM798. The device will be available for purchase through major retailers, wireless operators and authorized resellers from January 21, 2014 onwards. Additionally, every purchase of the Moto G after the mentioned date will come with a Motorola Shell and a screen protector.
