LG Gives Underprivileged Children an F1 Experience
33 children from the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Rumah Anak Yatim Mary were recently given the chance to walk the pit-lanes at the Sepang F1 circuit and play with F1 simulators during the qualifying days of the 2013 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, courtesy of LG Electronics (LG) Malaysia.
As the Global Partner and Technology Partner of Formula 1, LG took the opportunity to offer these children a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the world's most popular global racing sport. LG also arranged for an exclusive guided visit around the garage of the Caterham team, an area usually restricted to the general public.
During the visit, the children learned that F1 is a complex sport that involves more than speed alone. They discovered that the demanding sport also involves precision, cutting-edge technology as well as a strong and cohesive crew who worked hard behind the scenes to ensure the success of the driver, as well as the racing team.
“As a leading consumer electronics brand, technology is at the heart of all our innovations, just as it is with F1. LG is also driven by principles such as collaborative teamwork, precision and conquering new frontiers; values that are also clearly represented in this world leading sport,” said HK Kwon, Managing Director, LG Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd. “To have the opportunity to educate these children about the importance of such values and demonstrate how they can translate to success was gratifying. We hope they take these life lessons with them as they mature into young adults who will eventually be leaders of the country.”
