iPhone 8 confirmed to feature waterproof and wireless charging?

Aside from the 3D-sensing modules, Apple is likely to bring improved waterproofing and wireless charging to the new iPhone models this year. Chief Executive Robert Wang of iPhone assembler firm Wistron reportedly confirmed these two new features at a meeting two days ago.

"Assembly process for the previous generations of [iPhones] have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit," Hwang told reporters after the company's annual shareholders' meeting on Wednesday.

In addition,  Jeff Pu of Yuanta Investment Consulting and Arthur Liao of Fubon Securities claim that Wistron is assisting in the manufacturing of the 5.5-inch iPhone with Foxconn Technology Group.

The upcoming iPhone models are previously rumored to have better waterproofing features and wireless charging support. Unlike the current iPhones, which are rated IP67 for water and dust resistance, The Investor reported in January that the new iPhones would feature IP68 rating.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the iPhone 8 would support wireless charging. While Kuo was unsure whether wireless charging is supported across all three iPhone models, a reliable source told Engadget that it would be a standard feature across the new iPhone lineup.
