While not all 9.7-inch iPad Pro users have reported problems, there have been a number of reports suggesting a recent iOS update is causing problems. The issue is widespread and attempting to restore through iTunes does not appear to resolve it.

The problem stems from the iOS 9.3.2 over the air update. Users affected by the problem gets an 'error 56' message instructing them to plug their iPads into iTunes to resolve the issue.

According to Apple’s support documentation, error 56 is actually a hardware issue rather than a software issue. This is worrisome, as the error only pops up after the software update.

This is not the first time that Apple devices have faced errors that bricked them. Just recently, 'error 53' made headlines for bricking devices that were repaired by non-Apple technicians. The error appeared when an iPhone fails a security test, which was put in place to see whether Touch ID was working or not.

Our advice is for you to hold off on that update until Apple releases a patch.
