Amy Schumer’s name is one that the world over recognizes, chiefly for her contribution to the world of comedy. She’s been rated as one of the world’s funniest comedians, but more recently, she’s actually made it to the top of the McAfee Most Dangerous Celebrities list.

The list, which was published by Intel Security, showed that the comedian’s name and fame has been leveraged by many cybercriminals in order to infect the personal computer devices of consumers with malicious coding and sites loaded with malware that could steal passwords and personal information.

“Consumers today remain fascinated with celebrity culture and go online to find the latest pop culture news,” Gary Davis, Chief Consumer Security Evangelist at Intel Security. “With this craving for real-time information, many search and click without considering potential security risks. Cybercriminals know this and take advantage of this behavior by attempting to lead them to unsafe sites loaded with malware. As a result, consumers need to understand what precautions to take to enable safe online experiences.”

In fact, even a torrent search of the artist increases the likelihood of your personal computer actually getting infected by 33 percent, according to Intel and McAfee. Besides Amy Schumer, here are the other nine celebrities who were on the list (in descending order):

  • Justin Bieber
  • Carson Daly
  • Will Smith
  • Rihanna
  • Miley Cyrus
  • Chris Hardwick
  • Daniel Tosh
  • Selena Gomez
  • Kesha

To that end, we advise that if you do surf the internet for information and gossip for the celebrities in question, do ensure that the website is a trusted source at the very least.
