IFA 2017: Lenovo Tab 4 receives Alexa-powered Home Assistant Pack

Lenovo believes that the functionality and purpose of a tablet doesn't have to end the moment you’re done using it, which is why the company is introducing the Amazon Alexa-powered Home Assistant Pack for its Tab 4 range of tablets.

With the Tab 4 connected to the Home Assistant Pack, you’ll be able to use your voice to get the latest news, check the weather or your calendar, shop online, listen to a song, or control the various smart products that you have at home.

The Home Assistant Pack is essentially a docking station that comes with a powerful 3W speaker, and two microphones with far-field voice detection. What this means is that the Home Assistant Pack will be able to pick up your voice from up to three meters away, without you needing to awkwardly yell at it.

Lenovo’s range of Tab 4 tablets were announced back in February during MWC 2017. There are four models in total: Tab 4 8, Tab 4 8 Plus, Tab 4 10, and Tab 4 10 Plus.

In terms of specifications, each of the Tab 4 tablets are equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, but varying amounts of RAM. The entry-level Tab 4 8 and Tab 4 10 received 2GB of RAM, while the higher-end Tab 4 8 Plus and Tab 4 10 Plus are furnished with 4GB of RAM.

As denoted by their names, the Tab 4 8 and Tab 4 10 have an 8-inch and 10-inch HD (1,280 x 800) resolution displays, respectively, while the Tab 4 8 Plus and Tab 4 10 Plus have sharper Full HD (1,920 x 1,200) resolution displays of similar sizes.
