Liew Siew Choon, Senior Market Analyst for IDC Malaysia Software Research Group.

International Data Corporation (IDC) held a media briefing to lay out the findings of its recent survey on IT security in Malaysia. The study shows a healthy spending in network security, endpoint security and other basic solutions. However, there is a lack of concern when it comes to more sophisticated solutions and a low priority placed on security and vulnerability management.

“Although Malaysian organizations recognize the threats are getting more sophisticated, the iT spending is still prioritized on the fundamental security products that are insufficient to address the sophisticated threats. The fundamental security has to integrate with advanced security technologies in order to tackle the increase threats issues,” said Liew Siew Choon, Senior Market Analyst, IDC Malaysia Software Research Group.

IDC’s Continuum Study 2014 shows that Malaysian organizations placed a higher priority on data loss prevention, network security, and endpoint security above all other security issues, and is likely to address these issues in the next 12 months.
