HTC begins rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for the U11

Good news for HTC U11 owners: you will soon be able to update your device to Android 8.0 Oreo, and be one of the very few Android users in the world to actually receive the update. Because according to Google’s developer portal, as of November 9, only 0.3 percent of Android devices are actually running on Android Oreo.

But we digress. The availability of Android Oreo for the U11 comes courtesy of Mo Versi, the Vice President of Product Management at HTC, who tweeted over the weekend saying that the update will be available for download this Monday, which, naturally, translates to Tuesday here in Malaysia. However, we've yet to receive a prompt to download the update on our device.

What does Android Oreo bring to the table? A slew of new features that include notification dots on app icons, a picture-in-picture mode for multitasking, and improved power management, amongst others.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC U11 should be approximately 1.33GB in size, so you might want to consider downloading it over a Wi-Fi connection.
