HP to shake up A3 copier segment with new line of large MFPs

HP has plans to enter the large US$55 Billion (~RM226 Billion) A3 copier market with their new line of A3 multifunction printers (MFPs).

“For decades the copier industry has lacked the technology to improve efficiency of service, keep up with security requirements and make color affordable...Today, HP is changing the status quo with next generation A3 multifunction printers that bring to life a reimagined print environment that offers world class security, maximum uptime and affordable color,” said Richard Bailey, President, Asia Pacific, HP.

Due in part with HP’s acquisition of Samsung’s printer business at US$1.05 Billion (~RM4.33 Billion) earlier this year; HP’s new line of large format MFPs will boast a host of innovative features. A new player in the stagnant A3 copier segment will encourage competition and innovation the market.

HP will be bringing new A3 MFPs that include 13 Laser Jet and three PageWide platforms that come with options such as high capacity staple/ stack  and booklet makers, hole punch and in-cave stapler stacker. HP’s Laser Jet MFPs are their multifunction printer with fast print speeds of 22 to 60 pages per minute (ppm); and color and monochrome printing. The HP PageWide Enterprise and Pro platform are SMB class printers that are both easily serviceable and have fast print speeds of 40 to 60 ppm.

In addition to the robust line of A3 printers, the company will also introduce the HP Smart Device Services to their line of printers allow functions such as Cloud and device-based sensing capabilities to cut costs and minimize downtime. Besides that, HP also promises better security features for the new A3 MFPs like firmware integrity checking and secure boot functions.

HP stated that their Laser Jet Managed A3 MFPs and PageWide Enterprise and Pro Platforms will be available in mid 2017 and late 2017 respectively.
