Get your Canon camera covered with the new Asia Traveller Protection Programme

Are you:

  1. Going overseas somewhere inside Asia
  2. With a Canon camera that's still under warranty?

Then you are golden if your camera ever konks out while overseas. Canon's rolling out a new Asia Traveller Protection Programme (ATPP) that lets you bring your malfunctioning camera in for repair while overseas, and get reimbursed for it when you come back home.

ATTP covers 12 countries - China, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam - and EOS digital SLR camera, compact interchangeable-lens digital camera, EF lenses, and PowerShot/IXUS compact digital camera products.

The usual fineprint applies: the product has to be registered and still under warranty, and it needs to have been used in accordance with the instruction manual and operating guidelines, so ATTP won't apply if you drop your camera from the top of Taipei 101.

If you need to get your camera fixed, simply get it done at the local authorized Canon Service Centre (don't just bring it to any electronics shop), and keep your receipts! Come back to your home country, produce your proof of warranty and repair at the local Canon Service Centre, and get your money reimbursed. Couldn't be easier.
