Rumours point toward four new iPhone models this year, "Pro" phones to get 120Hz displays

As we approach the end of the year, iPhone rumours keep getting hotter and hotter.

The latest news from the rumour mill say Apple will release up to four new models this year.

There will be two new standard iPhones – likely called iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max– and two new Pro models – likely called iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The standard models will reportedly feature Super Retina OLED displays made by Chinese company BOE Technology.

The Pro models, on the other hand, are said to feature Super Retina XDR displays made by Samsung which will feature 120Hz ProMotion technology and 10-bit colour depth.

ProMotion, for those who have forgotten, is Apple's name for its variable refresh rate technology. It debuted in the iPad Pro in 2017.

High-refresh rates displays in phones are not new. Many Android phones already have it and they do a great deal in helping the phone look and feel faster.

This rumour comes from Ice universe, a leaker with a long and fairly accurate track record when it comes to Android devices. Last year, he/she accurately predicted that Samsung's Galaxy S10 successor would be called Galaxy S20. The rumour turned out to be right.
