COMPUTEX Taipei 2017 is almost here!

The annual COMPUTEX Taipei extravaganza is fast approaching, and this year, it will be held from May 30 till June 3, 2017. As expected, the week-long ICT tradeshow will highlight the latest trends in the tech industry, with this year’s themes being AI and Robotics, IoT Applications,  Innovations and Startups, Business Solutions, and Gaming and VR.

There will be more than 1,600 global companies showcasing their products and technologies, across 5,010 booths. Many familiar names in the tech industry will be a part of the event, including ASUS, Intel, NVIDIA and Supermicro. More excitingly though, for the first time ever, Tesla will have a presence at COMPUTEX Taipei. With such big names, there will no doubt be discussions pertaining to the Internet of Things, AI, and other next-generation applications.

To effectively showcase the many products and technologies, COMPUTEX Taipei 2017 will include four featured exhibition areas:

  • SmarTEX will be home to IoT applications in security surveillance, smart home and entertainment, wearables, Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and automotive electronics, and smart tech solutions. This will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1.
  • InnoVEX is where innovative startups can showcase their technologies in the realm of autopilot systems, startup ecosystems, the digital economy, as well as AI and IT policies. This part of COMPUTEX will run until June 1 at the Taipei Trade Center Exhibition Hall 3, and will feature forums, competitions, presentations, business matching events and interaction activities.
  • iStyle is an exhibition that connects all segments of the ICT industry, as it’s a special showcase of Apple MFi-certified products. You will be able to find this exhibition at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1.
  • The Gaming and VR show will also be held at the Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1. Being showcased here are gaming notebooks and desktop systems, graphics cards, gaming peripherals, and more.

One of the themes for COMPUTEX Taipei 2017 is Gaming and VR, which presents the perfect opportunity for companies like Acer, ASUS, Gigabyte, G.Skill, MSI and Thermaltake to demonstrate their latest gaming products. In addition, COMPUTEX Taipei 2017 will also play host to the COMPUTEX Modding Challenge – CyberMods, an international PC case modding competition, and Zotac’s Cup Masters – an eSports tournament.

The modding competition will feature contestants from the U.S., U.K., Thailand, the Philippines and China. The same venue will also be where the Zotac Cup Masters will be held. This eSports event will see e-athletes compete in Dota 2 for the grand prize of US$100,000. Jon Peddie Research (JPR) estimated that the PC gaming hardware market will be worth over US$30 billion by 2018.

“As the PC market is becoming saturated, the gaming industry’s emergence is triggering corporate transformation among high-tech companies. The gaming sector is playing a key role, connecting opportunities for suppliers of PC components and peripherals. COMPUTEX aims to use its global network of resources and enable a complete platform for manufacturers of the supply chain to join together to improve the gaming supply chain and build a technology ecosystem,” said Walter Yeh, TAITRA President.

In addition to the brands mentioned above, approximately 60 companies that deal in gaming products have signed up as exhibitors at COMPUTEX Taipei 2017.
