COMPUTEX 2017 concludes, highest visitor growth from SEA countries

COMPUTEX 2017, Asia's largest ICT tradeshow that ran from May 30 to June 3 this year, saw a record-breaking attendance of 41,378 international visitors from 167 countries. According to TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council), this represents a one-percent increase from 2016, with the highest visitor growth coming from Thailand (30.63 percent), Indonesia (22.52 percent), India (20.86 percent), Vietnam (20.44 percent), and Russia (14.81 percent).

During the closing day press conference, TAITRA and co-organizer TCA (Taipei Computer Association) attributed the show's success to the transformative groundwork laid in the past two years, which gave rise to the 'Building Global Technology Ecosystems' tagline. "COMPUTEX showcases the complete ICT supply chain while expanding into the IoT ecosystems and AI applications of today. We hope to bring global innovations and startups to join COMPUTEX and become the best platform for big corporations and startups to establish strategic partnerships," added Walter Yeh, President and CEO of TAITRA.

Deemed as Asia's largest networking platform for startups, the three-day InnoVEX Forum enjoyed a 36-percent increase in visitors (14,977) when compared to last year. Of the 272 startups that showcased their solutions at InnoVEX, around 100 teams participated in the InnoVEX Pitch Contest. Amaryllo was named the grand prize winner with a US$30,000 cash prize, while Addweup took home the Foxconn Technology Group special award with a US$10,000 cash prize.

The next edition of COMPUTEX will commence from June 5, 2018 and will continue till June 9, 2018.
