Apple's A11 Bionic chip blazes early benchmarks, surpasses most Android phones

Apple's new iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will be powered by the company's new A11 Bionic processor.

It consists of two performance cores, four high-efficiency cores, a second-generation Apple-designed performance controller, and an Apple-designed GPU.

Apple says it is a beast and early benchmark numbers seem to back up the claim.

Uploaded Geekbench scores show the A11 Bionic processor to handily outperform the already super-fast A10X Fusion chip found in the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

The A11 Bionic averaged single-core scores of 4,169 and multi-core scores of 9,836

This compares favorably against the A10 Fusion chip's scores of 3,887 and 9,210, respectively.

Even more impressive is that Apple's most powerful dual-core MacBook Pro averaged scores of 4,592 and 9,602, which suggests that the new A11 Bionic chip is better at multi-core tasks, and comes really close at single-core tasks.

The A11 Bionic chip is also considerably faster than even the fastest and latest Android phones. Powered by the Exynos 8895, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ has average single-core scores of 2,021 and average multi-core scores of 6,387.

Google Pixel and its Snapdragon 821 processor? 1,656 and 4,278. 

It is still early days, but it looks like Apple has another class-leading processor in its hands.
