Apple has made it three in a row. On Monday, we got new iPads; yesterday, we got new iMacs; and today, we are getting new AirPods.

The new AirPods (not AirPods 2) look identical to its predecessor. They are white and they come in a white carrying/charging case.

Inside, however, the new AirPods are powered by the new H1 chip. According to Apple, it was specially developed for headphones and delivers better efficiency, faster connect times, more talk time, and enables hands-free "Hey Siri." No more tapping on the headphones to activate Siri.

Talk time is up 50% or one hour thanks to this new H1 chip. Presumably, this means listening times are improved too but Apple doesn't say that. Users can also switch between Apple devices faster thanks to the H1 chip.

Finally, the new AirPods can be bought with the optional wireless charging case. This wireless charging case works with Qi-compatible charging pads and enables more convenient charging. Both the wireless charging case and standard charging case provide up to 24 hours of total listening time.

Price-wise, the new AirPods with the standard charging case costs S$239 while the AirPods with the wireless charging case is S$299.

The wireless charging case can also be purchased separately for S$119. And yes, it's compatible with the first-generation AirPods.

Both new AirPods (with wireless and standard charging cases) and the standalone wireless charging case are now available for order through the Apple Store online, with delivery beginning next week.
