Apple News+ features over 300 periodicals to create the best magazine reading experience for iOS devices

At its Showtime press event, Apple announced its paid subscription news service Apple News+. The service will bring together leading newspapers, digital publishers and over 300 popular magazine titles into a “curated experience within the Apple News app”.

With the inclusion of magazines that span a myriad of topics including technology, music, sports, health, lifestyle, travel, entertainment, fashion, and current affairs, Apple aims to create the best reading magazine experience on iOS devices with its rich layouts that will feature “animated covers, vivid photography and bold typography.”

The service will also cater for hard news with its variety of premium digital subscriptions to Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal and Toronto Star. Apple News+ will have premium access to online publications such as theSkimm, The Highlight by Vox, and Extra Crunch from TechCrunch.

Apple News+ will co-exist with Apple News that remains as a free service for all users. Apple News+ will present paying customers with article and issue recommendations based on editorial curation as well as personalized propositions that maintain user privacy.

Apple News+ is currently available in the United States and Canada only for US$9.99 and US$12.99 per month respectively. The service is slated for launch in the United Kingdom and Australia later this year.
