Apple releases macOS Catalina 10.15.5 with new battery health management feature

Apple has just released macOS Catalina 10.15.5. And as previously reported, it comes with a new battery health management feature.

The feature aims to enhance your MacBook's battery lifespan by reducing the rate of wear on the batteries.

It will analyse the charging patterns of the MacBook and if it finds that it is constantly plugged in, it will intentionally prevent the batteries from charging to full capacity.

Keeping batteries charged to full capacity for extended periods is actually detrimental to its lifespan.

Apart from this new feature, macOS Catalina 10.15.5 also includes other improvements and fixes.

Such as the option to control automatic prominence during Group FaceTime calls so video tiles do not automatically change size when someone speaks.

Mac users can update to macOS Catalina 10.15.5 by going to clicking on the Apple icon () on the top left corner and then clicking on "About This Mac" and "Software Update".
