Apple announces new 10.5-inch iPad Air and the return of the iPad Mini

Apple has just announced two new iPad tablets ahead of next week's big event.

First up is the new iPad Air. You can think of it in two ways: either a less powerful version of the iPad Pro or a slimmer, more powerful version of the iPad.

The iPad Air features a 10.5-inch Retina display with True Tone technology and is powered by the A12 Bionic chip. This is the same chip used in the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max.

It measures just 6.1mm thick and weighs 456g - almost the same as the iPad Air 2. It retains the Home button and Touch ID. No Face ID here.

The new iPad Air comes in silver, space grey, and gold finishes, and will also support the Apple Keyboard and Apple Pencil. Storage options are 64GB and 256GB.

Prices of the iPad Air will start at S$749 for the Wi-Fi model and S$949 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. They are available for order now and will appear in stores next week.

Next up is the iPad Mini, something that iPad fans have wanted for a very long time.

Like the iPad Air, the iPad Mini is powered by the A12 Bionic chip. It features a 7.9-inch Retina display with True Tone technology.

It's also 6.1mm thick but weighs just over 300g, making it the most portable iPad you can buy now.

It supports the Apple Pencil but not the Smart Keyboard since it doesn't have a Smart Connector.

The iPad Mini also comes in silver, space grey, and gold finishes. Storage options are the same at 64GB and 256GB.

Prices of the iPad Mini will start at S$599 for the Wi-Fi model and S$799 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. They are available for order now and will appear in stores next week.
