The AORUS GTX 1080 Gaming Box is what your Ultrabook needs to be a gaming rig

Ultrabooks may be the convenient portable work machine of choice for the on-the-move professionals, but for the most part that sort of portability comes at a cost of graphical performance. This can be circumvented with the new AORUS GTX 1080 Gaming Box, which can give the average Ultrabook the performance needed to be a VR-ready gaming machine.

The AORUS GTX 1080 Gaming Box features Gigabyte's RGB Fusion lighting, which is sure to set it apart from all other external GPU boxes out there. <br>Image source: Gigabyte.

Not to point out the obvious, but this is made possible, thanks to the GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card within the Gaming Box, which is powered by a 450W PSU and cooled by a 130mm fan. All that you need from the Ultrabook is Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, and the only remaining step is to simply plug in the Gaming Box. It can also serve to charge the Ultrabook that's connected to it, albeit at a rate of 100W.

The AORUS GTX 1080 Gaming Box doesn't only give your Ultrabook a performance boost on the Gaming Box are three DisplayPorts, an HDMI port, and a dual-link DVI port for you to connect up to four monitors. You also get three USB 3.0 ports that any Ultrabook user is sure to appreciate, and an extra Quick Charge 3.0 port for charging your mobile devices.

It all looks pretty interesting, but Gigabyte has yet to mention anything on local pricing and availability. We'll keep you up to date if we learn more. In the meantime, here's the official product page on Gigabyte's website.
