AirPods Pro will get new "Spatial Audio" feature, all AirPods to get auto-switching

At WWDC 2020, Apple also announced some new features for its AirPods.

To start, all AirPods will get auto-switching. This means that they'll automatically switch sources depending on what device you are using.

For example, if you are listening to music on your iPhone and then move to your Mac to take a conference call, the AirPods will automatically switch to your Mac.

Or let's say you are watching videos on your iPad and a call comes in on your iPhone, the AirPods will automatically switch to your iPhone.

AirPods Pro will be getting a new "Spatial Audio" feature, which aims to provide an immersive theatre-like audio experience.

Apple will use advanced algorithms to replicate a surround sound setup with the AirPods Pro.

What's more, head-tracking, thanks to the AirPods Pro's built-in accelerometers, will ensure that the direction of the sound stays fixed in space and consistent with your source device. This is similar to Audeze's Mobius gaming headphone.

Apple says Spatial Audio will work with content encoded 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos.

Unfortunately, Apple did not say when these features will be coming to the AirPods. We will update this news if we hear more.
