Add a second screen to your USB-C notebook with ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC

Turning an iPad into an extra display is a thing. But really, if you need more screen estate and don’t mind the extra weight on the road, you’re better served with a bigger notebook or a portable monitor.

ASUS’ new ZenScreen MB16AC falls into this second category. A 15.6-inch Full HD IPS monitor, it has a single USB Type-C port that’s responsible for transmitting both power and video signals. According to ASUS, installing a DisplayLink driver will also enable the monitor to work with Type-A sources.

Weighing 780g and coming in at just 8mm thick, a tablet-like monitor is probably the best way to describe the ZenScreen MB16AC’s looks. It comes with a smart case to protect the screen from dust and scratches, which you can also fold into a stand to prop the display up in portrait or landscape orientation. Alternatively, you can insert a pen into a hole at the bottom-right corner to prop it up.

Other features of the ZenScreen MB16AC include TUV Rheinland-certified flicker-free backlighting and blue light filter to minimize eye fatigue, as well as automatic screen rotation with the DisplayWidget software (in Windows only).

Local pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
