Acronis Backup 12.5 has arrived to protect businesses from ransomware

You’ve heard about the WannaCry ransomware, and you know exactly how menacing it can be – especially if you’re a business owner. Rather than crossing your fingers and hoping that your company is spared from its clutches, why not take preemptive measures and have your data protected by a backup solution like Acronis Backup 12.5?

Acronis Backup 12.5 is available in two editions: Standard and Advanced. If you have a small-scale business, you can start off with the former, and upgrade to the Advanced edition in future when your business expands. Switching from the Standard edition of Acronis Backup 12.5 to the Advanced edition can be done by simply switching license keys. It's as simple as that.

The Advanced edition of Acronis Backup 12.5 is compatible with more than 20 platforms, including Windows, Office 365, Azure, Linux, Mac OS X, Oracle, VMware, Hyper-V, Red Hat Virtualization, Linux KVM, Citrix XenServer, iOS and Android.

It comes with a host of new features too, such as detailed reports of any ongoing and completed backup and replication activities, Oracle database backup and granular recovery, bare-metal recovery automation with remote boot media control, and most notably, Acronis Active Protection – which intelligently detects and blocks ransomware attacks including WannaCry, complete with instant restoration of any compromised data.

Don’t worry, that last feature is available on the Standard edition of Acronis Backup 12.5 as well, alongside the Acronis Instant Restore feature, which promises to help businesses achieve a Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of 15-seconds.

“The Acronis Backup 12.5 comes at a time when enterprises and SMBs are under threat of ransomware, as we have witnessed with the recent WannaCry epidemic worldwide,” said CY Seng, Product Manager, M-Link System (M) Sdn Bhd.

“Acronis Backup 12.5 Standard was well received by our customers as a cost-efficient and reliable solution offering complete data protection, and with the new features of Acronis Backup 12.5 Advanced, our customers can easily expand their infrastructure, keeping the same backup solution,” Seng added.
