2014 LG Smart TVs Recognized for Advanced Speech and Finger Gesture Commands

LG receiving the accolade from UL.

Many modern high-end TVs today support speech and gesture recognition, but none except LG's have been validated by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). UL is a global product testing and inspection organization. This is the first time that UL have given its stamp of approval to specific Smart TV features.

LG's advanced speech and finger gesture functions were awarded the accolade after UL conducted a number of tests – UL assessed how well the speech recognition registered spoken commands and the speed with which those commands were processed. The finger gesture feature was measured by how accurate the TV tracked movement and the effectiveness of specialized functions.

Do-Joon Lee, Vice President and Head of the UX Division, LG Home Entertainment Company said, “Being the first to receive UL certification for Smart TV features is confirmation of our innovation's uniqueness. We are committed to advancing the Smart TV experience to bring greater convenience to people's lives.”

The advanced speech and finger gesture recognition functions will be available starting 2014, in LG Smart TVs running on the company's new OS.
