Samsung Galaxy S8+: A beauty with beastly performance and features
Benchmarks & Battery Life
Benchmarks & battery life
As usual, to get a better idea of the performance of a phone, we ran several synthetic benchmarks, including:
- 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme
- Epic Citadel
In PCMark's Work 2.0 benchmark, the S8+ gave us a score of 5,252, which is indicative of a flagship smartphone's performance. Most of the latest flagships are able to give a score of about 5,000 to 6,000.
3DMark's Sling Shot Extreme
A score of 3,325 in this benchmark is actually highly impressive. In comparison, other phones of the same class offer a score between 1,000 to 2,000. Gaming on this phone ought to be a great experience.
If there was any doubt about the performance of this phone, this score in AnTuTu ought to dispel any of that. In comparison, many other flagship phones provide a score of about 120,000.
Again, this score shows you that you won't have any issues running the most graphically-intense mobile games you can get your hands on today.
With a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 and an always-on display, one would expect the S8+ to have limited battery life, but that isn't the case as in PCMark's battery test suite, it managed to last for 11 hours and 35 minutes. In real-world performance, this should give you close to a day and a half worth of battery life. If you do run out of battery within a day though, the fast charging battery will easily get you back on your feet within an hour.
