UberEATS makes its debut in Malaysia
Uber launched its UberEATS service in Kuala Lumpur today. UberEATS is a stand-alone delivery app that delivers food with a touch of a button, and it will go live on September 21 at 9:00 am. UberEATS is available in over a 100 cities globally, and Kuala Lumpur will be the tenth Asian city to launch the service.
The service operates from 9:00 am to midnight with an initial delivery time of half an hour, and has a delivery fee of RM5 while there is no minimum order. At present, there are 200 restaurant partners to choose from including Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa, Sitka Restaurant and Inside Scoop. On the app, users have the flexibility to schedule and track their orders, as well as enjoy a personalized menu. UberEATS also worked closely with JAKIM to make sure that their delivery methods comply with halal requirements, resulting in segregated food bags for halal and non-halal foods.
Users may make payments via debit or credit card, though UberEATS is working to make payments in cash available in the near future as well. As of now, UberEATS is available in the Kuala Lumpur central business district, Damansara Heights and Bangsar. It intends to expand its service to other areas in the near future.
Shri Chakravarthy Gopalakrishnan, General Manager of UberEATS Malaysia and Singapore states that UberEATS also wants to offer more opportunities for Malaysian restaurants that do not have an existing delivery service to earn, in addition to providing restaurant owners with analytics and insights to better their businesses.
The UberEATS app is available for download for iOS and Android. Users may enjoy free delivery on their first three orders by entering the promo code KLTASTY, valid until October 21.
