Sony Computer Entertainment Unveils August PS3 and PS Vita Titles

Sony Computer Entertainment has recently announced a slew of upcoming video game titles, which are slated for release in August for the Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita consoles. Unveiled at an exclusive launch and preview event in Mid Valley Megamall, the games included titles such as P4U Persona 4 The ULTIMATE in MAYONAKA ARENA, AQUAPAZZA, Sleeping Dogs, Damage Inc., Sound Shapes (exclusively for the PlayStation Network), Persona 4 The Golden (for the PS Vita) and Ragnarok Odyssey (for the PS Vita).

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
No doubt one of the well-received titles at the preview was Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs. Set in modern day Hong Kong, this open-world action game casts players in the role of Wei Shen, an undercover cop trying to take down the Triads from the inside, while navigating the exotic locations and busy streets of the city.

 

As players fight their way up the organization to prove themselves worthy, they will have to take part in brutal criminal activities without blowing their cover. With its mix of explosive action with deadly martial arts and intense gunfights, as well as high-speed thrills and car chases through the varied districts of Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs is definitely an epic title to look forward to. Due for release on August 14, 2012, the game will be available for the PS3 at a recommended retail price of RM169.

The Speed of Sound
Exclusively available for download via the PlayStation Network, Sound Shapes which is available from August 7, 2012 was also an eye-catching title not to be missed. A unique take on the classic side-scrolling platformer, this game integrates music into the mix, allowing users to play, compose and share their creations with the community.

Play over 20 challenging levels with each of the five campaign “records” boasting a unique art and music style. With original music by I Am Robot and Proud, Jim Guthrie and Deadmau5, as well as original artwork from Capy, Queasy, PixelJam, Superbrothers and Pyramid Attack, users can mix and match music and artwork across the board to create their own levels and tracks with a simple and fun editor. Thanks to a cross-save ability, users can also play, compose and share their creations between the PS Vita and PS3, carrying their progress over from one console to the other. Sound Shapes is now available on PSN at the price of RM55.

Top Gun
For the ace fighters among us, Sony has also announced the arrival of Damage Inc. – the latest shooter published by Mad Catz, which will make full use of its PlayStation 3 joystick peripherals. Enroll yourself into the force and take to the skies for some of the most heated dogfights in history, going from Pearl Harbor to Iwo Jima. With over 100 objectives to complete for massive replayability, this game will give you a variety of missions to choose from including stealth and reconnaissance missions, ground attacks, escorts and ground defense among some.

Besides a single-player mode, Damage Inc. also has an extensive multiplayer and co-op game modes. Choose from over 32 planes with 68 upgradeable variations and engage in single or team dogfights, as well as duke it out across the blue in survivor and team survivor modes. Available from August 28, 2012 for the PS3, this game is priced at RM129.

The Golden Persona
Besides PS3 releases, Persona 4 The GOLDEN for the PS Vita is also among some of the titles announced at the preview, scheduled for an August 17 release. While it is a port of one of the most popular Persona games on the Sony PlayStation 2, the title indulge fans of the original, as well as first-play users with a fresh gaming experience, thanks to the addition of new features, scenarios and characters.

This includes additional events and additional events to the game world for more interactivity, five levels of difficulties that caters to the needs of both new and seasoned players and HD resolution graphics, which makes full use of the PS Vita’s beautiful screen. Thanks to the console’s 3G and Wi-Fi function, users can also support each other in the game by joining the next battle to fight alongside each other, or share advice with “Everybody’s Voice”. A new Gallery Mode also gives users a chance to enjoy the in-game animations, soundtracks, illustrations and trailers, which also include trailers of all the games in the Persona series so far. Priced at RM179, Atlus’ best-selling hit will not just bring the game to the PS Vita but could also make it the console’s number 1 role-playing game!

In addition to Sleeping Dogs, Sound Shapes, Damage Inc. and Persona 4 The GOLDEN, Sony has announced that users can also expect hack-and-slash RPG Ragnarok Odyssey for the PS Vita on August 16 and 2D fighter AQUAPAZZA on August 30. P4U Persona 4 The ULTIMATE in MAYONAKA ARENA is already available for the PS3 from July 26.
