Update: The 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro is indeed a refresh of its newly launched of its 5-inch variant with the same name. We aren't quite sure why there are two versions released so soon after one another but the 5.5-inch version is set to come with some impressive specs. More importantly, it will be the first phone to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 chipset clocked at 1.7GHz, one that was unveiled at CES 2013. Some other confirmed specs include a 13-megapixel camera, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of memory, and a 3140 mAh removable battery. Yes, it also supports wireless charging.

LG may not have gotten much traction in its note-taking Vu phablet lineup but an upcoming LG device might very well do the trick. According to PhoneArena, the company is preparing for a 5.5-inch device that looks set to beat its competition out of the water. Bearing extremely close physical resemblance to the popular Galaxy Note II, the device is said to be equipped with the following specs:

  • 5.5-inch full HD display
  • 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 13-megapixel camera
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • 32GB of internal storage
  • microSD slot
  • 3,140 mAh battery

The smartphone, allegedly also to be called Optimus G Pro (not to be confused with this 5-inch LG device), is said to be launching in South Korea later this year. With MWC just weeks away from starting, we will be expecting to see this nifty device during the event.
