OS 2.0 Update for BlackBerry PlayBook Now Available
Waterloo, ON – Research In Motion (RIM) has announced that the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 update is ready for download.
This new OS comes with new and intuitive features including:
- An integrated email client with a unified inbox that syncs messages from Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, as well as personal and work email accounts,
- Built-in calendar and contact options also draw information from the users’ social media platforms for a consolidated view,
- A new BlackBerry Bridge App that provides a Bluetooth connection between the BlackBerry PlayBook and core apps on the users’ BlackBerry smartphone (including BBM, Email, Contacts, Calendar and Browser),
- Updated document editing functions that includes a new Print To Go app and increased control and manageability of corporate data,
- Thousands of new applications including some that were previously found only on Android devices.
“Building on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet’s proven web browsing, multimedia and multitasking strengths, the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 introduces a range of new communications and productivity enhancements as well as expanded app and content support,” said David J. Smith, SVP Mobile Computing, Research In Motion.
In conjunction with the release of this new OS, RIM is also announcing an initial release of BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, which will allow enterprise users to manage the organization’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablets and BlackBerry smartphones.
