Nokia Unveils Mobile Music Subscription Service

With the mobile phone market so heavily saturated, it is important to differentiate your offerings from the rest of the field. Nokia will be attempting to do so by introducing the Nokia Music + feature in the next couple of weeks. The service is essentially a music subscription which will be available to Nokia Lumia users at a rate of US$3.99, although prices may vary according to territory.

Nokia smartphones already come with the free Nokia Radio Mix service and Nokia Music + is intended to be a paid service which offers greater functionality. With the latter, users will be offered unlimited skips for tracks, unlimited downloads for Mixes, higher quality tracks, lyrics to songs and the ability to access the music content from their desktop as well.

With the new Music + feature, which should become available for use in the next couple of weeks, Nokia's music subscription service is moving more in line with other freemium competitors such as Spotify.  Whether they will be able to wrest market share from the established players remains to be seen.
