MSI and Futuremark Finally Launches Latest 3DMark, Announces MSI 3DMark Challenge
After announcing two months ago that they were partnering together to produce a brand new 3DMark benchmark, MSI and Futuremark has officially launched the latest version of the 3D performance testing software. Representing a new generation in 3D performance benchmarking, the new software will showcase the brand new Fire Strike demo, which was exclusively sponsored by MSI. The showpiece of the new 3DMark, it offers users a stunning demonstration of what high performance DirectX 11 gaming PCs can do.
Thanks in part to the MSI sponsorship, Futuremark has made the 3DMark Basic Edition free to download on all platforms. For users who want better, in-depth benchmarking, there is also the 3DMark Advanced Edition, which is priced at US$24.99. It will also be bundled exclusively with selected MSI graphics card and motherboards.
With the new 3DMark, users have everything they need to benchmark their hardware. Three new tests allows benchmarking of everything from smartphones and tablets, to notebooks and home PCs, as well as the latest high-end, multi-GPU gaming desktops. More than that, it's for use with more than just Windows, as 3DMark can now compare scores with Android and iOS devices as well.
To celebrate the launch of the new 3DMark bundle, MSI has also announced the start of the MSI 3DMark Challenge - an overclocking competition based on MSI's top overclocking motherboard MSI Z77 series. Divided into two parts, the challenge involves users competing in the most challenging DirectX 11 scene in 3DMark - Fire Strike. Two top challengers, using a MSI Z77 MPOWER, with the highest scores stand a chance to win either an MSI R7970 Lightning Boost Edition graphics card or Z77A-GD80 motherboard. There is also a Z77A-GD55 Lucky Draw open for all challengers using MSI Z77 motherboards. To participate, users simply need to upload their scores before March 3, 2013 for the MSI 3DMark Challenge and February 10, 2013 for the Z77A-GD55 Lucky Draw.
