Maxis Ushers in 4G LTE Era with New Smartphones

The HTC One XL is one of the two phones that Maxis is carrying that supports its 4G LTE spectrum

Here's the Nokia Lumia 920

Maxis Berhad has launched two 4G LTE smartphones today – the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL, both of which will be compatible with Maxis’ 4G LTE network. When used in 4G LTE coverage areas, the devices offer speeds of up to 75Mbps, with typical speeds of 10 to 30Mbps, which is five to 10 times faster than 3G speeds. In areas without 4G LTE, these phones will automatically switch to Maxis’ 3G networks.

The Nokia Lumia 920 boasts features such as Carl Zeiss lens, PureView technology with Optical Image Stabilization and a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display. On the other hand, the HTC One XL is the first smartphone in HTC’s One series to feature ultra-fast 4G LTE connectivity. It boasts an elegant polycarbonate body that is less than 9mm thick, a 4.7-inch HD display, and packed with authentic Beats Audio.

Suren J Amarasekera, Joint Chief Operating Officer, Maxis said, “Customers can purchase the Nokia Lumia 920 from only RM1,099 with SurfMore 75 plan or TalkMore78 with 3GB Mobile Internet and HTC One XL from RM1,199 with SurfMore 75 or TalkMore78 Plan with 3GB Mobile Internet. We look forward to launch more smartphones and tablets this year on Maxis’ 4G LTE network, so customers can enjoy the most superior on-the-go experience.”

Maxis launched its 4G LTE service at the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2013, making it the first Malaysian telco to launch the service locally. Maxis’ 4G LTE service is now available in selected parts of the Klang Valley including Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya.
