LG to Roll Out New OLED TV

LG's new 55" OLED TV. The company has started taking orders and are expected to ship out the first units by February

LG Electronics will be making a lot of their consumer base happy, as they began accepting pre-orders for its highly-anticipated 55” WRGB OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV (Model 55EM9700) in South Korea this month, with the earliest deliveries expected to initiate by next month.

At only 4 millimeters thin and weighing in at less than 10kg, the new OLED TV will offer an infinite contrast ratio, which will maintain an optimal contrast level regardless of ambient brightness or viewing angle. LG is expecting the OLED segment to grow to approximately 7.2 million units by 2016.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to make this announcement at the start of the new year because we believe that OLED will usher in a whole new era of Home Entertainment,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG's Home Entertainment Company. “When high definition TV was first introduced 15 years ago, the public's reation was 'wow!' but when customers see our razor-thin OLED TV for the first, they're left speechless.”
