iOS 6.0.2 Update Causing Faster Battery Drain on iPhone 5 and iPad mini?
Apple may have resolved the Wi-Fi bug with the latest iOS 6.0.2 update, but it seems to have introduced another problem - weaker battery life.
According to ArsTechnica, the issue was first reported by TidBITS' Adam Engst. He claimed that his iPhone 5's battery dropped 18% in 90 minutes despite not using the device at all. A number of iPhone 5 users also experienced similar issues and shared their feedback on Apple's Support Communities.
TidBITS - "Our speculation, based on some quick testing that Michael Cohen did, is that the problem is related to a change in Wi-Fi behavior, which maps with Apple's sole release note for iOS 6.0.2," Engst wrote. "[I]t's far from conclusive, but indicates that the problem may be related to wireless communication in some fashion."
We have yet to encounter the battery issue on our iPad mini and iPhone 5 devices, but we will update this section if there is any development. For now, you may want to hold off updating your iPhone 5 or iPad mini.
