Dell and Sony Pictures join forces for 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' campaign
Dell has announced its collaboration with Sony Pictures in conjunction with the film release of Spider-Man : Homecoming. A worldwide marketing campaign featuring the new Spider-Man film and Dell's newest Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming notebook is set to be kickstarted.
As part of the campaign, Dell's latest Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming notebook, as well as the XPS 13 2-in-1 notebook, will be incorporated into the movie's storyline. There will also be TV spots, digital advertising, cinema and consumer engagement efforts. The ad has been broadcasted in the U.S., and will reach cinemas around the world as well.
Sony Pictures Imageworks used Dell's Precision Technology to create the visual effects for the film. Spider-Man: Homecoming VR was also created as part of the alliance between Dell and Sony Pictures. It is a multiplatform VR experience based on the movie, where players can experience being Spider-Man as they swing through New York City to hunt down the Vulture.
Other promotional efforts include interactive billboards where participants can race to the top of a skyscraper with an interactive Spider-Man Scramble feature on some of New York City's biggest digital billboards – all on their mobile phones. The game is set against a backdrop with real-life Time Square buildings, and players race their mobile phone-controlled Spider-Man against two large digital screens in front of a Times Square audience.
Dell was also one of the sponsors at the film's world premiere in Los Angeles, where they set up tech demonstrations, gaming, and VR at the red carpet, creating a mobile experience where celebrities and VIPs could have their fun.
