Colgate's first smart toothbrush has a 10-day battery life
If you are a regular user of Colgate's toothbrush, you might want to consider its latest smart electronic toothbrush.
Known as the E1, Colgate's first smart toothbrush has artificial intelligence (AI) technology built into the handle which works with the iPhone/iPad app, Colgate Connect. Together with the advanced sensors, the E1 can detect the exact position and orientation of the brush in real time across 16 brushing zones.
Over time, the learning algorithm will develop recommendations based on your brushing patterns and shares them via the app to improve your brushing. It also has sonic vibrating technology for effective cleaning of the teeth.
The Colgate app also provide several helpful tips such as Coach (to help you adopt proper brushing habits), Check Up (a personalized mouth map to show where you brushed and where you missed) and DashBoard (tracking of data and how to improve oral health).
There is also a game for kids in the Colgate Connect app; the toothbrush is used as a game controller in the game "Go Pirate" where the longer they brush the teeth, the more coins they collect.
The E1 can last up to 10 days on a single charge and automatically uploads the data via Bluetooth 4.0. Data stored on the Colgate Connect app can be shared with the dentist to make checkups more effective and an opt-in integration with Apple ResearchKit can help oral health researchers in their work.
Colgate currently sells the E1 smart toothbrush for US$99.95 (~S$132) on Apple's US website and select Apple Stores in the U.S.
