Cisco Experiences Rapid Worldwide Customer Adoption

Business Benefits and Cost Reduction Lead to Rapid Adoption

Cisco has announced that in just over two years, its Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) has captured the attention of data center managers and CIOs alike - to a tune of over 10,000 customers worldwide. The UCS system integrates computer, networking, management and virtualization to offer compelling cost and business benefits across a wide array of industries and workloads. Since it began shipping in July 2009, it has captured 53 industry benchmark performance world records along with a dozen industry awards for innovation.

However, as the video below suggests, many industry observers were skeptical at the time of its introduction, as it was a new computing technology in a highly competitive market at that time:

Designed from the ground up with a 'clean slate' approach, Cisco UCS tapped into a powerful market demand for a new approach to computing, enabling IT organizations to unleash new business models with its innovative, integrated architecture. Customers are able to reduce the time to deploy new applications, improve business agility and reduce costs. UCS is the first fabric computing platform that combines industry-standard, x86-architecture servers with networking and storage access into an integrated system.
