Apple in Discussion with Yahoo! for Deeper Content Integration with iOS
According to "people with direct knowledge of the companies' relationship", Apple and Yahoo! are both in talks to discuss how Yahoo! services could be further integrated into iOS and used on iPhones and iPads.
Already, Apple uses data from Yahoo! to power its Stocks and Weather app. It also uses data from Yahoo! to provide sports statistics via Siri. The two companies are said to be discussing possible deals to get more content from Yahoo! News and its other web services loaded onto Apple device or through Siri.
Although nothing is concrete yet and representatives from both companies have declined to comment, such a deal would benefit both companies.
For Yahoo!, it would mean getting their services on to one of the world's most hottest selling gadgets - analyst estimate Apple would sell 200 million iPhones and iPads this year. This would represent lots of traffic and help transform Yahoo! into a bigger player in mobile software. And for Apple, it would mean lesser reliance on Google.
