Acer Liquid C1 Launched, Malaysia's First Intel Atom Smartphone
Acer today launched its newest smartphone, the Liquid C1. It is also the first phone to arrive in Malaysia that runs off Intel's new Atom Z2420 processor. Kicking off the event was Liew Sze Thai (or S.T., as he prefers), President of Smartphone Business Group, Acer Inc. S.T. explained how the Liquid C1 was designed to complement the fast-paced lifestyles of people today, and how Acer's smartphone will successfully merge work and play seamlessly under one device.
Also present for a quick speech was Prakash Mallya, Country Manager of Intel Malaysia, who touted the use of Intel's Atom Processor by Acer as a milestone in its history of processor chips.
“Mobile devices have been a major component of Internet behavior in Malaysia. Smartphones are becoming the primary device for Internet access, especially for young professionals who are always on the go,” Mallya explained. “By working closely with Acer, we are offering the market a powerful option of a device that delivers a great user experience in terms of amazing battery life, rich graphics for casual gaming, advanced camera features, smooth web browsing and multitasking.”
To give you some idea as to what the Liquid C1 runs on, here's a list on what to expect from it:
- 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor with HyperThreading
- 1GB RAM with 4GB of internal memory
- 4.3” (540x960) IPS Display
- Quad-band 3G Internet that runs at 21Mbps
- 8MP camera that features 5fps burst shooting
- 2,000mAh battery
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean)
Acer has stated that the Liquid C1 smartphone will be made available at all authorized dealers in approximately one week from today, giving it a tentative release date of March 26-27, 2013. In line with that, the Liquid C1 will also be sold at an affordable price of RM999.
