Acer launches its Aspire 3, Aspire 5, and Swift 1 notebooks in Malaysia
Acer had more than just an AMD Ryzen gaming desktop and a 4K HDR monitor to showcase earlier today, as the company decided to go all out by unveiling its latest range of notebooks as well, namely the Swift 1, Aspire 3, and Aspire 5.
You’ve heard much about the Swift 3, Swift 5, and Swift 7 – now it’s time for you to meet their youngest sibling, the 1.3kg-light Swift 1. As you would expect from the most affordable Swift notebook of the lot, the hardware of the Swift 1 is pretty modest for today’s standards: it has a 13.3-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS display, an Intel Pentium N4200 processor, 4GB of DDR3L RAM, and a 128GB SSD.
In terms of connectivity ports, the Swift 1 has one USB Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, a HDMI port, a SD card reader, and an audio combo jack. There’s no RJ-45 Ethernet port to speak of, so you’ll have to connect to the internet using its 2x2 802.11 b/g/n/ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi connection.
Rounding off the features of the Swift 1 is a Windows Hello-compatible fingerprint scanner, which can be found right beneath its arrow keys.
The Acer Swift 1 is available in colors of Salmon Pink, Luxury Gold, and Sparkly Silver. They will be retailing for RM2,199 and can be purchased from select authorized Acer resellers nationwide beginning today.
Next, we have the Aspire 3, which is available in three different hardware configurations.
The entry-level Aspire 3 variant will be retailing for RM1,339, and it comes with a 14-inch HD (1,366 x 768) display, an Intel Celeron N3350 processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB hard drive. For an additional RM100, you can have the mid-range Aspire 3 variant, which comes with all the aforementioned hardware, but a slightly larger 15.6-inch HD display.
The third and final variant of the Aspire 3 is likewise equipped with a 15.6-inch HD display and a 500GB hard drive, but instead of an Intel processor, you’ll be getting an AMD A-Series A4-9120 processor, Radeon R4 graphics, and up to 12GB of DDR4 RAM. This particular variant will be going for RM1,499.
All three Aspire 3 variants will have one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and an SD card reader.
Last but not least, we have the Aspire 5, which is available with an Intel Core i5-7200U or an AMD A-Series A12-9720P processor. The former will come alongside a NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU, while the latter will have an AMD Radeon RX 540 GPU.
CPU and GPU differences aside, both Aspire 5 variants will have 4GB of DDR4 RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and the same number of connectivity ports, which includes a USB 3.1 Type-C port, a USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and a SD card reader.
The Intel-powered Acer Aspire 5 will be going for RM2,639, while the AMD-powered variant is yours for RM2,549.
