Underwriters Laboratories Certifies LG's Glasses-Free CINEMA 3D Monitor

Underwriters Laboratories Certifies LG's Glasses-Free CINEMA 3D Monitor

During the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012, LG Electronic's D2500 glasses-free CINEMA 3D monitor was certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as the world's first glasses-free 3D monitor. This strengthened LG's leadership in the glasses-free 3D product market.

“Our glasses-free CINEMA 3D monitors will continue to lead LG in the glasses-free 3D market...We will strengthen our glasses-free 3D product line-up to further distance ourselves from the competition,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company.

The D2500 also received other certifications for five different tests such as 2D Color Characteristics, 3D Contrasts, 3D Color Characteristic, 3D Crosstalk and 3D Vertical Viewing Angle.

In addition to the UL certification, the D2500 was also certified by TÜV Rheinland as a glasses-free 3D product. TÜV lauded the D2500 as exhibiting excellent contrast ratio and color reproduction.

Using Parallax Barrier technology, the D2500 is able to create an illusion of depth using a series of light-blocking barriers attached to the front of the LCD panel, allowing the left and right eyes to see different images. To get the best 3D image quality, the D2500 also uses a head-tracking technology that follows the user's head and eye positions in real time, allowing it to adjust 3D images according to the user's viewing angle and distance from the CINEMA 3D monitor.
